About

My name is Tom Eccleston. I’m an educator, BC school principal, husband, father, and amateur pianist.

I believe the heart of effective school leadership is cultivating a culture where every member (students, staff, and families) feels valued, heard, and empowered to contribute. Learning thrives through rigorous curriculum, evidence-based pedagogy, and trusting relationships all grounded in shared purpose.

I prioritize listening, modeling integrity, and fostering collaboration so that innovation and growth emerge organically from our school community.

My goal each day is to contribute to leading a school where curiosity and creativity are celebrated, and where every learner can engage fully, find purpose, and contribute to something larger than themselves. I believe leadership in education is about nurturing communities where students and staff can flourish.

I’m committed to:

  • Building schools where respect and open-mindedness are foundational.
  • Supporting educators through collaborative professional growth and innovation.
  • Centering student voice in shaping a vibrant, inclusive school culture.

Alongside my daily work in schools, I write reflections, review books, and share stories and ideas that connect theory with practice. This site is a space for me to think out loud and contribute to the wider conversation on education and leadership.
